Audition FAQs
Q: Do I need experience to audition? What if this is my first audition?
A: Not at all! First-time auditions are absolutely welcome. Our community theater is a supportive, encouraging environment, and many of our performers started with little or no experience. If this is your first audition, we're happy to walk you through the process - just let us know when you arrive.

Q: What do I need to bring with me?
A: Nothing! We will provide everything you need for the audition. Just bring yourself, a positive attitude, and a willingness to try.

Q: Do I need to dress up?
A: No. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. If you're interested in a specific role and would like to dress in a way that suggests that character, you are welcome to - but it is completely optional and not required.

Q: What can I do to prepare?
A: The best preparation is simple:
-
Review the audition information in advance
-
Be ready to read from the script (sides will be provided)
-
Come open-minded and willing to take direction
Memorization is not required unless specifically noted.

Q: What is the audition process?
A: Auditions are relaxed and low-pressure. You will be asked to read from the script, and you may be asked to read more than once or for different roles. This helps us see how actors work together and fit into the overall production.

Q: Will there be callbacks?
A: Callbacks may be held if needed. Not everyone will be asked to attend callbacks, and being asked (or not asked) is not an indication of casting decisions. Callbacks simply help the director make final choices.

Q: Who decides who is in the cast?
A: Casting decisions are made my the director, sometimes in consultation with the production team.

Q: How are casting decisions made?
A: Casting is based on many factors, including:
-
Suitability for a role
-
Chemistry between actors
-
Vocal and physical needs of the show
-
Creating a balanced and cohesive cast
Casting decisions are never personal and do not reflect an actor's talent or potential.

Q: Will everyone get a part?
A: We wish we could cast everyone, but casting depends on the needs of the show and the number of available roles. If you are not cast this time, we strongly encourage you to audition again - different shows require different people, and casting changes from production to production.

Q: When will I know if I have been cast?
A: Casting decisions are typically announced within 1-2 business days after auditions conclude.
